Chatt Art is thrilled to feature the innovative Marc Boyson on Episode 8 of the podcast!
Marc Boyson is a conceptual artist who has been living and working in the Chattanooga area since 2011. In addition to teaching at Southern Adventist University, he also spends his time creating works of art that reveal the cartographic trace.
"My route to art has been like my work... which is a squiggly line that goes all over the place."
- Marc Boyson
A Marc Boyson work of art might seem like a map filled with intricate, fine lines that denote an actual place at first glance. One wonders if it could actually be used it to find the right directions. But upon a closer inspection, there is so much more. The lines move in a way that seems familiar and spark memories of neighborhoods you once rode a bike down in childhood or walked upon on vacation. In that way, they seem so approachable, carrying with them a universal kind of language of memory. And for Marc, they often are a record of memories... memories of roads traveled, adventures in other lands and curious explorations.
