"Every single work is an experiment."

- Carrie Pendergrass

This episode will be particularly useful for artists who are just beginning to make decisions regarding their career paths. Carrie brings wisdom and experience of not just working as a career artist, but also as a Teacher, Gallery Director and Sole proprietor of her own brick and mortar gallery. This wealth of experience in diverse spheres of the creative art community is an asset that can be incredibly useful in determining what sector of the arts might be right for you and the benefits and limitations of these investments.

The two works, After Cress I and II, pictured above were discussed in the episode.

In this episode we get into the ins and outs of her printing process, with all of the shop talk of drying times, paint mediums and paper quality. Carrie also fills us in on what it has been like to work in just about every aspect of the art world and the joys of being at home in the studio.

This episode offers answers to a world of questions like…

What the heck is a “Gelli Plate Monoprint”?

How does paper quality affect print production?

Who are Carrie’s greatest influences on her decision to pursue art?

Which family member collected antique tools (hint… it’s not who you’d think)?

What does a degree from UTC really get you?

And what bird did Carrie’s grandmother feel was most reflective of her personality?
